Combat Description
Arena Battleground is the best place to demonstrate your fighting skills and art of warfare. Entering it, you can choose the type of fight from the Main menu. Beginners can apply for 'Novice fights' only. Having made your choice, you move to the screen with the following options: 'Submit a request' or 'Back to Town'. The first option allows submitting a fight request, accepting or declining somebody's request. The second one will take you back to Arena Square.
Submitting a fight request, you have to wait until somebody accepts it. NOTE: YOUR REQUEST CAN BE ACCEPTED ONLY IF AT LEAST ONE MORE PLAYER IS IN ARENA AT THE MOMENT! You can see it from the chat bar at the bottom of the screen that tells you about all players in Arena at the moment. Please note that YOU FIGHT NOT AGAINST COMPUTER BUT AGAINST REAL PLAYERS WHO MUST BE PRESENT IN ARENA TO ENGAGE INTO THE FIGHT.
However, if you are a novice, you have a chance to fight against a member of Virtual Fighters League. They observe all fights and will gladly oppose or accompany you in combat if no real players are available. Yet, on more advanced levels, they will ignore you.
When you see that your request is accepted by at least one player, or you accept somebody's challenge, wait for 1-2 minutes, then the trumpets sound and the fight begins. Left and right arrows below permit to look through all submitted requests and select one to accept it.
Once the fight started, you have to adopt a combat style which you will decide on your every move. You have to select one enemy's zone to attack and two your areas to defend. Or, you may defend all three zones on your body to have a break and restore energy. When selected, press 'Attack!' button. Follow the fight comments and keep in touch with your companions by means of chat.
The course of battle is described in the comments that refresh after each move. They will always give an account of the fight, the result of each hit, block or dodge. Remember also to follow the changes of life and energy index. The bars above your character image are your life status bar and energy bar. The first one decreases according to the damage inflicted by your rival. When your life drops to the minimum, you get a message saying that your fight is over. The green energy bar shows your fatigue and determines the efficiency of every move. When the energy status drops below 80% you have more chance of missing the target.
The course and outcome of the fight largely depend on your stats (statistic characteristics) that are primarily determined by race selection (see descriptions of each race
here
). The stats are as follows:
Strength. Determines your physical power and the amount of damage inflicted on your opponent.
Stamina. Influences your firmness in combat, the number of hit points and the ability to carry more weight in your haversack.
Agility. Increases your ability to evade enemy's attacks.
Intuition. Enhances the ability to withstand enemy's critical hits and to prevent opponent's dodge.
Luck. Improves the chance to strike a critical hit on your opponent, i.e. inflict a double damage or simple damage if hit through enemy's defense.
Weapon skill increases the efficiency of combat with a specific weapon. Initially, each race has its own weapon preferences in fight, but you can acquire new skills when earning a level up.
For winning a battle you will be granted experience points which are necessary to obtain a higher level of your character. However, you will not always win. When you lose a battle, go back to the city. Your life status will grow again within your stay in the game, or you can quickly increase it with healing pots sold in some locations of the City. Life is also restored quicker in the hotel rooms but you have to pay for your apartment. Different types of injuries may ruin your abilities. In course of time the injuries will heal on their own, or you can take a medicine sold at the chemist's. But until they go, some of your skills remain decreased.
Arena battlegrounds is not the only place to engage into fight. Numerous monsters are waiting for you in the Labyrinth, as well as near mines or in the woods. Medley battle arena will propose you a risky venture, and finally, eccentric and extraordinary fights - fisticuffs and melee with preset armour - will be available on Arena when you obtain a Level up.
